I want to...

I want to blog... or rather, write something here, but every day of holiday is so precious and preoccupied that it is not easy to have time to sort out the random thoughts in my mind or upload photos which help say the thousand words.

Exam results were released this morning. finally.

Time for lunch at 3pm...
I will be back soon. (:

Ka Yan meeting Ka Yan

In the 21st century, "The world is flat"! (that is a book which I am really interested to place my hands on). Mom and I had a discussion on how computers and internet have influenced our lives: we need them for work, for communication, and even for study.  Even people on vacation bring along a laptop and requests for internet connection on plane or Wi-Fi in a beach resort. Sometimes I give a second thought to the influences of computers; they are just intrusive and therefore inevitable.

One week of holiday has passed and I am so enjoying my isolated life style. The few hardcopy books which I grabbed from the library became the centre of orientation of my life this week. It may sound ridiculous, but the luxury of finishing reading a book on bed, sofa, train or bookshop within a day feels like bliss. Facebook-ing and blogging? I love them but actually felt no urge for them.

Nevertheless, holiday is the best and most precious time to catch up with friends! :)

-Ka Yan Viv- & -Ka Yan Michelle-

"Yan, Yan, Yan!" calling "Yan' on street in HK and you would have more than few heads turning to your directions. For some reasons beyond my knowledge, the name 'Ka Yan' is pretty common in my generation. However, what is the probability of meeting a HK friend in Sg in the same school with the same name by random?

The arrangement of this meet-up with Michelle was an unexpected surprise. From all the smiles and laughter shared, I knew that we all enjoyed the many topics, thoughts and interests exchanged. :)

We went to the Kim Gary HK Cafe at Vivo City. We both shared the 'annoying' hobby of taking snapshot of food. lol. The giant mugs of drink are Strawberry Aloe Vera and Honey Lemon Green Tea, they are refreshing, as always. And I have never forgotten to order the Macau Pork chop Burger in every visit! The best pork chop burger I have ever tasted must still be the one which Ida brought me to at Macau. Dada, when will I visit you again?!

I gave their new item Stone Rice a try. The ingredients look simple, but hey! it was delicious. The rice was slightly burnt and dry, which went perfectly with the special sauce provided. It wasn't an extraordinary dish, but given the reasonable price in the restaurant and the commendable service, it was definitely worthy.

Does she look more like a Sg girl or HK girl? ha. I guess perception is subjective in the first place. Nevertheless, I had a slight hesitation of which language to speak when we first met. Michelle, did we use to communicate in English instead of Cantonese back in school days? ha.

Michelle, all the best to your endeavor which you will be pursuing in Melbourne next year. You will be the teacher of my future child! Will you teach kid as young as 5 years old? :) Enjoy yourself in winter HK!

Jessie, I am waiting for you to send me the photos so that I can update about our girls outing!

15-minutes-Entry

Finally, projects are over and I am only left with revision. Official exam period will start tomorrow and my first paper will be on Monday. Exam! Exam! Exam!

I am giving myself 15 min break after dinner and let's see how much I can achieve here.

The clock with second counting on my desktop is tickling....

at 1st minute: it has already been spent on creating this entry and typing the message above!

at 2nd minute: I decide to let photos say a thousand words and proceed to upload photos now...

at 5th minute: done! ha. I'm loving windows live photo gallery which makes photo uploading an ease now! of coz I must thanks mom for making a large bandwidth at home possible. lol

at 6th minute: did I spend close to a minute to type the previous message?...

Followed by JianMin's Birthday party few weeks ago, it was Weixiong's Birthday party last weekend. This is really a year of birthday parties. Birthday party is fun, at least it serves as a wonderful reason for a large scale friends gathering. :)

B'day Boys

:: Tommy & Weixiong who share the same birth date! ::

I used to want to meet someone who shares the same birthday with me, but before I could meet one, I figure that it would be special but nothing extraordinary for two persons to be born on the same day of a year. Perhaps, it would be exciting to meet a friend who shares not only the birthday, but the same birth time! However, I foresee its possibility to be impossible, since Chinese believes that 時辰八字 shouldn't be disclosed.

RP Girls

:: Zannie :: Yiming :: Viv :: Jessie ::

In the attempt to take this photo, we did a stun!

"Come! pose, smile and... 1,2..."
Hugging each other waist at the back, the girls tried to give their best smiles.
"Happy....." Suddenly, the singing started
We made a perfect 180 degree turn uniformly and started
"*clapping* ... Birthday to You!..."
When the singing ended at "... to you!!!"
"let's continue photo taking!"

Viv and Yiming

:: Yiming :: Vivian ::
The couple mahjong player. Are you going to teach me? lol

We obviously look tired at the ending phrase of the semester. We will rejuvenate ourselves after exam!

Schooling days are the best!

at 10th minute: wah! I used only 4 minutes to update! let me continue.

Not being an alcoholic, a shopaholic, or a sleeping-beauty, what should the comfort of my busy day be?

 Cathay Nacho Ice-cream Creep!

--Cheese Nachos--  &  --Ice-cream creep at Cine - Tropical flavor with mango ice-cream and pineapple--

Ichiban Sushi 'take-away'  Viv at MosBurger

--Ichiban Sushi takeaway--  &  --Mos Burger chilli hot dog--

Curry Beef Pepper Rice "Tokusen?Ribeye Steak

-- Pepper Lunch (Curry Beef Rice & "Tokusen" Ribeye Steak) --

I really dislike the smoky smell trapped in my hair and on my clothes whenever I visited pepper lunch, but its rice is really one of my favourites. I could lick the pan shinny clean! The tokusen ribeye was the most expensive dish in the restaurant and it made me wonder if it worth the price given that customer has to "self-service" with the cooking. Surprisingly, despite the high risk of having it over-cooked, the quality of the steak is delicious!

After walking pass the Sakae Teppanyaki newly opened in Cine a month ago, we decided to give it a try at the end of a long day studying in library. The set dinner on the menu appeared to be 'not cheap', but after seeing the quality of food provided, the price became very reasonable.

 Raw food Salad

We ordered two beef set meal. What does it compose of? Let's see. :)
The complimentary garden salad was simple yet irresistibly appetizing! It must be the Japanese sauce that did the trick.

Chef Beef, Tofu, Mushroom, and... 'that yummy'

The chef cooked every dish patiently in front of you (oh yes, that's the idea of 'teppanyaki', isn't it?!) The beef cube was mouth-wateringly succulent. I love it! The rest are wild mushroom, tofu and... something that was soft and melted slowly, really slowly in the mouth; I don't know what that exactly was, but it tasted awesome!

Cooking garlic rice Garlic Rice

We requested for garlic rice in replacement of the standard steamed rice, and the chef fried it instantly. It was one of the most lip smacking garlic rice I have ever tried, but it was sinfully 'heaty'. I had sore-throat the next day. :(

chawanmushi in onion-bowl! all eaten!

That was an unconventional chawanmushi steamed not in a bowl, but in an onion 'cup'.  It tasted ordinary but it didn't bother much when the expectation was satisfied by visual appreciation. Lastly, a miso soup was served in the set meal. Overall, the dining experience in Sakae teppanyaki was an enjoyment, given that you have the time and mood to spare for the real-time cooking. However, its limited dishes disallow it to be an attraction for frequent visit.

When outside food tastes delicious, home-cooked food filled with love is equally and even more scrumptious!

Western Breakfast

-- Western Breakfast --
The sudden urge drove me to cook a meal of western breakfast at home! It had toast, ham, bacon, sausage, egg, milk... it is a master meal, isn't it?

Mom cooked me a meal filled with love last night! A healthy meal to boost my energy level for exam!

Yummy meal Rice with Japanese seaweed flakes Steamed Egg

--Steamy rice with Japanese seaweed flakes-- & --Steamed Egg--

Tomato Fried Eggs! Fried Salmon Burger Pappaya soup

--Tomato fried egg-- & --Salmon burger steak-- & --Papaya Soup!--

Thanks MOM! I LOVE YOU!

at 15th minute: oops, time's up! Time to go back to revision.

ALL THE BEST TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO ARE HAVING EXAM AND ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION!

Recreation

Omg, where'd my tagboard gone?  Had I not updated this space for so long till it disappeared without notice? Blame it on projects + essay + upcoming exams! It was pretty troublesome to register for a new tagboard. I have been wanting to update about my B'day , but let me leave it till a later date since I have yet to have time to upload the photos. Wait for me! ha.

People often say that you only learn to treasure it when you miss it. It is so true! I am missing the following things badly: movie!, a tray-full of crispy nachos and tasty warm cheese, icy ice tea, Ben & Jerry ice cream, sour candy from 7-11! These days with the intensive workload, it has become a guilty act to travel out for as simple as dinner and movie. My entertainment turns once-a-week and home-based - PS3! But hey, it is so addictive that I'm starting to feel guilty at home too!

PS3 - an absolute fat (heavy!) Black Beauty
Call me superficial, I fell in love with its simple yet shinny and elegant nut-shell at the first sight. Knight Viv pledged to keep her 'sketch-free' and 'dust-free'. Oh, "pledgeD"? ha, observant you! This mission is now a past tense, as it is incredibly hard to stop dust from coating it.

This Black Beauty 入得廚房,出得厅堂 - has both internal and external beauty. hoho~ It supports wireless internet connection, Blu-ray playback, and a sixaxis remote controller which has motion sensor (e.g. literately steer it left and right to navigate the direction of a shooting arrow). I checked out that a blu-ray movie disc costs $70+ in HMV. That was like the launching price of DVD era ago. It is so expensive.

These two games which I am have tried playing are fantastic! I got stunned by their breath-taking graphics and super fine details and varieties in actions; these are topped up with an interesting story and the utilization of sixaxis controller. Ha, am I talking rubbish? After all, these few qualities are what all PS3 game developers are committed to produce.

Folklore   HS

There seem to be a lot of worth catching performances in Singapore this year! Followed by Phantom of the Opera and David Copperfield (sad to have already be cancelled), there are also many Chinese concerts of such as Jacky Cheung (he is coming back in 2008), Aaron Kwok, Sammi, A-Mei, Fei Yu Qing, and Jay Chou! Friends have been talking about going for A-Mei's concert, but it falls in the eve period of my exams so I am giving it a miss. However, my friend and I so want to catch Jay Chou's concert! It will be in Jan 2008 and the advanced booking started less than a week ago. To my astonishment, I found out that....

A-Mei's world tour with only one show on 8 November 2007 still has cat 2 and cat 3 tickets available for sale.

Ai-Mei concert

Jay Chou's world tour on 19 Jan 2008 almost has all of its tickets sold out other than cat 8 and cat 9 tickets! Guess what? The public sale will only start on 4 Nov 2007 and this is actually happening in the first quarter of the priority booking period . A point to note: it was only 3 years ago when he last toured to Singapore. An astoundment it is.

Jay Chou concert

I somehow strongly feel that Jay's management will increase the number of Showtime of his concert. Concert is a direct and effective way to make money, so why would they not grab the opportunity? Let's wait and see...

Mid-Autum Festival

我愛『中秋節』!Celebrating it together as a family is very important in my family, which we faithfully practices every year. My dearest Mom looks forward to it every year! ha.

Although we have moved house, our 'loyalty' to a temple located at our previous neighbourhood remains unchanged. As usual, the temple team had BBQ pits set up and cooked food served. Everyone shared mooncake, sang songs on stage and had moon appreciation together while chatting. The management team even set up a booth to distribute lantern and candles.

I am blissful to have my family beside me. Can you imagine those singles or old folks who feel lonely in this Chinese festive day or are financially incapable to celebrate it? This kind of celebration which was open to public would be such an anticipative, wonderful and joyous occasion for them. It was an absolute kind-thought of the temple to prepare such a celebration annually regardless of weather conditions. I love to see the smiles on the PoPo's! and of coz everyone in the neighbourhood enjoyed this special occasional gathering. :)

= Mama is so adorable. I LOVE YOU MOM! =

250920071990 250920071989

My dear Mom takes Mid-Autumn festival so importantly that our day couldn't possible end after the trip to the temple! >> We went home to continue our PART 2! >> MOON TIME!

Festive food of Mid-Autumn Festival isn't all about mooncake; Pomelo, fruit, yam, 菱角, 豬籠餅 and Chinese tea etc. are festive food too!

250920072010

We decorated our min-garden outside my house with lanterns. Mom was acting cute. I am hopelessly in love with our mini-garden, and I love FAMILY TIME!

250920072009 250920072006

Sometime I wonder if I was the playful one or if huNni was the serious one, I seemed to get excited and had more "must-do" ideas for playtime than huNni. I dragged huNni to the park to gain back his long-forgotten childhood fun. Candles, sparkles, vacuum balloons, lantern... Oh, I wish that generation gap doesn't exist between us and we share similar childhood interests. ha.

We did the VA together! together! together!
"Spacewoman Viv is ready to take off!"

290920072024 290920072033

I promised to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together and we did it.
I was overwhelmingly delighted that you enjoyed the silliness we shared.
We both looked nerdy kiddy with spectacles afterall. :)
